Revell 1/144 C17 Globemaster

Has anyone else experienced trouble assembling the engines on these models. The cowlings will not close tight around the fan blades.
I find that it will take a lot of filing or sanding down of parts to get the correct fit.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to obtain a pair of winglets for the C17 1/144 scale please. over the years the winglets have gone missing. Thanks in advance.
