Micro-Mesh

I've read a lot about Micro-mesh, said by many to be the ultimate modeller's abrasive product, especially for removing mould lines and other blemishes from transparent parts. Here in the UK, I've only found one modelling supplier who lists Micro-mesh, but they were out of stock. A bit of digging produced two suppliers, both tucked away in the wood turning section of ebaY. The Micro-mesh Craft Kit retails at £13.95 or thereabouts. Contents are as follows:

Kit contents include:
1 - 2" x 2" Soft Touch Pad, Micro-Mesh 1500
1 - 2" x 2" Soft Touch Pad, Micro-Mesh 1800
1 - 2" x 2" Soft Touch Pad, Micro-Mesh 2400

I'm waiting for my kit to arrive - full report as and when, but if the Cybermodeler review above is anything to go by, I think this is going to be the answer to a modeller's prayers.

Hmmm ... ... ... let me guess ... ... ... Revell 1:32 Typhoon?

The mad thing is I've been on the search for something like this for years, in fact since 1981 - I have a partially completed Tamiya 1:32 F-14 which I bought for the princely sum of £29.95 when it was launched almost thirty years ago - that was a lot of dosh for a kit back then. It has the same problem as the Tyffie and I've never been sure how to deal with it. The beauty about Micro-mesh is that it seems to be good for general modelling work as well. I'm trying to track down another product of theirs as well, Micro-mesh polishing swabs.

I loath using old fashioned wet 'n dry paper and hope that Micro-mesh is going to be the answer to my prayers. If I find the polishing swabs, I'll report back.

Ive just ordered mine, many thanks to Rob for bringing this to our attention, I dont know about any one else but Ive been after a set of these for about 10 years and all Ive ever found is one or two parts and not a full set.

The kits I need this for is the good old F-18 and F-16's, both the old Hasegawa 32nd F-18 (Ive not made this kit yet as it was this one I wanted micromesh for) and the kinetic 48th F-16 kits.

That's great news Andy - I haven't tried mine yet, but soon will. If it takes mould lines out of canopies then it's worth its weight in gold.

Now to find a more economical source of the most-used grades.
