Re: modelhobbies.co.uk
I have just received my cheer up order that the Mrs placed for me, Even though Easter was in the middle of it, it still turned up in very good time. Great prices and cracking service. If you are after an airfix nimrod I would check out there specials

Re: modelhobbies.co.uk
I've had bad service from these guys in the past, where they charged me for items they didn't have in stock. After being held off for 4 weeks they finally refunded me. However I'm a fair man and credit due when due, I placed another order with them Tuesday evening and received the full order today.

Well looks like I may have spoken too quick on these guys.
Placed an order for items which were in "Stock" on the 3rd December, week past Friday and received an "order in process" email on the Saturday. Then nothing, so I phoned today to check if the items had been dispatched, guess what.................... they hadn't. They have sat on my order for 10 days with no reason or excuse. Sorry Modelhobbies but I expect better service than that

Coupled with E Model's shambles last week, I think I will only deal with Sprue Brothers in the States when it come to Aftermarket accessories(their service is first class they even refund you postage costs if it costs less than expected), and Wonderland Models for kits, paints, and consumables(again first class service).

Re: modelhobbies.co.uk
alright. iv been looking at the Revell 1:32 Typhoon... its around £45 - £50 in most places.. however its £37 on modelhobbies.co.uk ... but im not sure if its too good to be true. theres been mixed reviews for modelhobbies so im not sure if i should go for it or not...
also if anyone has built the 1/32 typhoon and has any comments on it that would be great. description also says it comes with a seperate engine plus stand... do you get the option to have it in the aircraft as well? silly question i know just making sure
cheers Rory

Re: modelhobbies.co.uk
Rory,
£37.00 is a good price for a Typhoon. I have built one a year ago for http://www.scalemodellingnow.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and to be honest I have mixed feeligns about the kit.
The kit comes with an option to have one engine on a stand, however the stand is really flimsy and not worth bothering with. On the upside, you can pose the model witht he engine in and it include options for the burn cans to be open or closed, however it only petals for one option each
Please bear in mind that the kit is an F2 model only and not an FGR4, which means that if you are looking for more pylons, you will have to buy these separately. There is also no air to ground weapons included, the options being the resin Flightpath GBU-24's or the newly released Trumpter weapons (£35.99 from Hannants)
The model itself is a beast to put together and has the usual flaws associated witht he smaller typhoon kits. Be prepared for lots of filling, sanding and mikng good. There are also lots of sink marks int he kit around the burner can patels, leading edges and on the fuselage.
I would strongly recommend that you get a white metal under carraige leg for the kit too (£12??) as the front one is way too weak to hold the model up.
So the upshot is that although it is quite cheap to buy, the kit itself needs a bit of work and cost to do anything with it]
Saying that, i fi haven't put you off, please drop me a mail, I have loadds of pointers for you!
I have attached an image of mine on here, but if you have any queries, please do e-mail/PM me and I will be glad to help you
