Hi All,

Could anybody tell me what grey to use for the bottom of the old VC10 colours? Also I assume the top is white, but is it satin or gloss....looks too shiny to be matte - http://www.abpic.co.uk/popup.php?q=1136702" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Also, what were the tops and bottoms of the wings like colourwise?

RAF Transport Command colours (VC-10's anyway) were gloss white on top with the lower half of the fuselage, engines and wings light aircraft grey - Xtracolor X015 will be spot on for this. :thumb:

You building a '10 then mate?

Cheers :D

I've had a 10 on the go for a while (in the new colours) but have had some issues with filler melting the nose :P

This is for my 'what if' build for the GB....so it's not a VC10, but it will be in these colours :)

Revell Plasto.....for some reason it made the polystyrene go all soft and squidgy....came back and it had a ripply nose like a B52 :P

Can't say I've ever had that happen with the ol Squadron Green!

If it requires a lot of filler (and from what I saw of that kit then it does!) you'd be better-off using Milliput. It doesn't melt the plastic and you can add a huge amount with no problem. Solvent-based fillers are no use for anything other than little cracks and holes and they're often pretty useless for that too as they have a nasty habit of shrinking after a long time.

Have you ever tried building the Matchbox/Revell Victor? The above describes it well. I spent about ten evenings on filler work alone!

Victor is a real pain but it's worth the effort. The Flightpath intakes fit pretty well and they rectify the kit's worst points but it still needs a lot of filling and sanding. Better than no kit at all though! :lol:
