Resin parts question

Morning all.
I've been looking at some extras for some future kits in the stash and was wondering if resin parts recommended for certain kits can be used on others? I am currently looking at extra stuff for the Revell 1/72nd B-24D but all resin parts in this scale seem to be recommended for use on the Hasegawa and Academy kits.
I am aware that certain parts are probably going to locate better on the recommended kits but in the case of resin engines for example could they be easily adapded to fit?
Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question to some of the pro's but i'm a relative newbie to extras on kits so thought I would seek advice before trying it.
