Rip Off !!!

Post by Vulcan74 » Tue Jul 16, 2019 5:28 pm

With going on e-bay now & again to look at the Corgis aviation diecast model section, I'm amazed how some of the sellers can expect to get away with what they are charging.
Example is an RAF Canberra B2 1/72 used price £99.99 + £7.99 postage economy delivery
Example same model used price £89.99 free postage.
Example same model used price £50.00 + £14.75 postage economy delivery.
Eample same model used price £24.99 + £4.99 postage economy delivery Best offer.

I know which one I would buy!!

Totally agree with you - and it's the same for model kits. Can't understand why some of these people don't do a bit of homework first, like checking the prices other sellers are asking and buyers are willing to pay for the same item they're trying to offload. Seems to me that it's just laziness, or they just can't see beyond the £ signs covering their eyes. And don't get me started on the prices model-makers are asking for poorly built and finished kits!

Rant over. Goodnight.

Chancers. I saw a 1/72 Airfix Spitfire Mk1 on Facebook market place advertised as a 'vintage kit collectors item' for £25, some idiot will buy it.
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

As has been said before ...chancers , I think ,or hope ,most people have the sense to know what to go for :S :S

But..........there are still bargains to be had on ebay just bought a 1/144th scale Roden C-5B Galaxy RRP £119.99 ..buy it now ..£25.99 was very happy with that , kit arrived within 3 days..perfect

Its not all doom and gloom

Cheers

Agree with that, PaulN. Thing is, if a potential seller saw a Roden C-5B selling for around £30, why would they then pitch their kit with a starting price of, say, £50? Just doesn't make sense. Read the market. Like I said: they have £ signs in front of their eyes, blinding them to reality.

Got to go - eBay 'Model Kits' is waiting for some ore attention!

Vulcan 74 , another thing to look out for on these is that it is often the same seller , putting the same item up for auction at different prices
if your seriously interested in a item it pays to do your homework on the seller before putting in a bid.

I agree do your homework first, but its time i would have thought that these sellers should be banned from e-bay for asking unrealistic prices and ripping people off!!
