Just to add some good news to this whole nasty gubbins,

Hanannts have now re opened there site and are accepting orders, but they are no longer keeping hold of your card details. So when you order, your card details are deleted straight after your order is processed.
I prefer it this way as its safer and I cant spend as much as with the old system I could just press confirm and I had more gubbins on the way. Now I will have to go and find my wallet, let the moths out and contemplate if I really should by more stuff on the walk to get it

Of coarse that all goes out the window when I go to telford as I seem to buy something at most stalls, well its rude not to

I'd be much happier if Hannants would just accept Paypal and there's no danger of us getting stuffed by lack of adequate security.

I've involved the police in this - I'm not best pleased. AFAIK they had a duty of care which they didn't maintain - we're the losers.

I'm with Highland Sniper on this one, although Hannants aren't directly responsible for the money disappearing from our accounts they do have a duty of care towards their customers and I was shocked to learn that our Credit/Debt card details are kept on a database when there is so much online fraud on the go today. Hannants from the very beginning denied they were at fault, but surely it's up to them to make sure that our(the customers) details are safe form such attacks something they obviously didn't and they still deny any wrong.

Mark I hear what your saying that it wasn't just Hannants that have been hit, but since we are a modelling community that is were most of us have been hit from and for me it's just not good enough.

I the future I will only deal with online companies that accept PayPal

My CC sent me a letter on Friday to say that there was suspicious activity on my card, and that they have cancelled said card. The only place I've used the card in the last 2 years was Hannants back in April this year for some parts for my Hellenic F-4E, so the common thought that this is only affecting cards used in the last few weeks is blown out of the water.

Anyone had any strange phone calls?

Phone (landline) rang last night well after 8pm - missus took the call and they was a bloke asking for a J Stringer, although seemed unsure of what christian name they actually wanted, having a go at what sounded like Jem at one point! Now, that's my surname and my middle initial, but not my christian name or initial.

I took the phone off her and it was an American voice which said it was about an online account - I asked what online account and he said "don't worry" and hung up!

1471 produced a message saying the call was "from a network unable to transfer the number" which a Google search revealed is often the result of an attempt to scam and usually from abroad. The call probably cost a fortune or something - all 60 seconds of it!

I have had a change of card since purchasing anything from Hannants but have purchased from them in the past so just thought I'd check.

Cheers

Gareth

The last 2 posts are really worrying :( Just what info did Hannants keep about us or transfer to their clearing bank.

I'm going into the bank tomorrow and taking out their Identiy theft and Identiy fraud insurance just to be safe.
