Guatemalan F51

Post by benyboy » Wed May 12, 2010 3:12 pm

Hi all

I have just got back from holiday where I read the excellent `Phoenix Squadron`. ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Phoenix-Squadro ... 0593054504" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) I would recommend the book to anybody who has not read it, its every bit as well written and informative as `Vulcan 607`. ( I also read and would recommend `The Deep Blue`, Stephen Ambrose )

...any way, aviation modeling :P . I am already a big fan of the Bucc and the Phantom but it was the chapters on / pictures of Guatemalan F51`s that realy caught my attention. The so called `pre invasion` scheme is in my opinion the best ever applied to a P/F51. http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww2/f/165/190/0/3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

A quick look through the net and I found this 1 48 model. http://www.hyperscale.com/features/2001/p51dda_1.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but would`nt the Airfix 1 32 kit look awesome in this scheme.

So go on, go on, go on :P somebody do it, I would but I`m a bit pants at modeling :blush: If nothing else it would be great air brush practice.

Also had a thought that the `Pheonix Squadron` book might be a good idea for the next group build. Its a good list of aircracft, Guatemala - F51 Mustang, Cessna A37, T33, Dakota, FAA - Buccaneer (strike and tanker), Phantom, Gannet, Sea King, Wessex, RAF - Canberra PR, Hercules, Belfast, VC10, Harrier GR3, Civilian (British Honduras / Belize - Cessna 172(with ex WWII Luftwaffe pilot)

Any way just an idea. Would love to see it if anybody is stuck for ideas :pop:

Ben
