RIP to the pilot involved. What a shame

BBC says it crashed on landing. Local reports say it smashed into the ground while attempting to land.
I'm no expert, but whatever happened must have happened very quickly for this professional pilot not to eject.
It will be interesting to hear a bit more detail on what happened.

More from Aviation Week -

A Spanish Eurofighter Typhoon jet crashed before landing at the Morón de la Frontera airbase near Seville yesterday (June 9). Major Fernando Lluna Carrascosa, the 30-yr old pilot from Madrid, married and father of a 9-month old daughter died in the crash. He is the first Spanish Air Force pilot to die in a Typhoon crash.

The aircraft came down in the early afternoon during a routine scramble. Spanish military sources say the plane hit the ground less than a kilometre from the runway with no warning of trouble from the pilot who had 600 flight hours on this aircraft. He was unable to eject.

This is the third Eurofighter crash in Spain which has the worst crash record of the four Eurofighter program partners (Italy, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom) although it has the fewest number of aircraft and they fly fewer hours.

The first accident happened on November 21, 2002 when a prototype crashed near Toledo while it was flying at 15,000m. Accident investigators attributed the crash to the failure of the engine which was not the one which equips the series production Typhoons. Both pilots ejected safely.

The second occurred on August 24, 2010 when a Saudi officer who was under instruction at the Morón base died when his aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff. The Spanish instructor managed to eject safely. Following this accident all ejector seats of the fleet were reviewed.
