We visited Bruntingthorpe for the first time for the Twilight event back in November 2015 and having not been forewarned we ventured over towards the Airliners & Tri-Stars and had a right good look around the place..
To our amazement one of the Greek 747's was open with a set of stairs leading up to it, so with none of us having ever set foot in a 747 temptation took over and we decided to take a closer look. The inside was pretty much gutted with a few seats dotted around here and there and there were spent flash bang and smoke grenade casings all over the place, the type you'd expect to see when paintballing that sort of thing; I can only imagine that it'd perhaps seen it's fair share of Military training.
The best part for me was probably the staircase leading up to the flight deck where we had this enormous aircraft all to ourselves whilst sitting in the driving seat
Soon after, we decided that we'd maybe rode our luck a little and vacated but like I said it was our first time there and rather innocently we just felt that because it was a haven for the aviation enthusiast it was kind of the done thing to have a look around.
Looking back I now realize that we'd been somewhere that perhaps we shouldn't have and on subsequent visits I've taken note that it's now made clear that that area is strictly off limits. Needless to say, I've not attempted to access that area again...
