Having relevence to military aviation...
The French, having always to put one up on the British have took the British designed CVF but increased the size of it and the displacement to 75,000 tonnes as opposed to the Royal Navy's 65,000 tonne design.

The new French carrier will look pretty much the same as the CVF but carry 32 Rafales, E-2C Hawkeyes and helicopters and have a steam catapult as opposed to the STOVL we will have for the RN.

They already have a nuclear carrier, but this will be conventional and larger than the nuclear Charles de Gaule.

It won't happen if our carrier doesn't happen, and that seems rather likely at the moment...

Oh ye of little faith! Our carriers will happen (we can't afford to cancel them, politically or financially), but they'll be sold to the Indians before the paint's dry along with Rafales made by Frances (it's not too late to go steam catapult). I nearly said along with navalised Typhoons, but that would be hard to believe. Mind you why are we giving them the IIa BBMF Hurricane if they're not going to buy Typhoons?
