Sad news indeed!

Neil Armstrong - a true hero with many outstanding achievements to his name. I will always remember listening to him land the 'Eagle' on the moon, even more than his 'first step'.

RIP

Very sad news indeed. The world has become a less special place this evening. A true gentleman who was modest about his achievements. I am very glad I had the opportunity to meet him a few years back

I followed the space race every inch of the way and sat up all night transfixed in front of the telly waiting for Neil's historic steps. Sad, sad news indeed.

A real shame.

Wherever we choose to go in the future - we will always be in his footsteps. Whoever we are in the future - we will always remember Neil Armstrong.

Now that's legacy. Thanks Neil.

Legend is a term often misused in my opinion, but in Neil Armstrong we have the real deal. RIP Neil..LEGEND.

Has a 9 year old Cub Scout, I and my mates in the local pack had a special "Space Camp" were we were all allowed to stay up late and watch the moon landing live on TV.

In later years I watch nearly all the programmes with him on and he with Patrick Moore sparked a interest in me in space along with a American programme which to me summed Mr Armstrong life.

It always started with the line: "Space.....the final frontier...."

The Eagle has now landed..RIP Neil your job has been completed. :'(

RIP Neil Armstrong a true hero and legend

Only being 6 years old at the time. I remember staying up and watching it on TV (with Michael Burke and Patrick Moore I think). Something I will never forget.

“Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink.”

Just to give a quick insight to Neil's modesty and understated sense of humour. At the event when I met him someone asked him whether he felt the moment he left the LEM was historic he said: "you know, pilots generally take pride in a good landing, not in getting out of the vehicle".
