Aviation Flight Jackets - help please

Post by GOOSE » Sat Dec 19, 2009 3:55 pm

I'm after the new "Maguire" version of Alpha Industries USAF Flight Jacket.

For those interested in such things, the Maguire is a virtual exact copy of USAF issued CWU Flight Jackets.

The Maguire is designed to look and feel exactly like the USAF "Nomex" material but without the cost and fire retardant properties.

I can find loads of US stockists courtesy of Google, but none in the UK.

Anyone know of any? :S :S :S

I don't think this will be of any help but here goes, at Duxford Autumn show in October there was a fellow selling 'flying jackets' I didn't stop to look or remember the company name , but they did look rather nice.
It might be worth your while getting in touch with IWM Duxford and asking if they know the companies name ?? just a thought!!

Thanks for all the answers so far.

Unfortunately none of the advised stockists do the "Maguire".

Have found a couple of US sites that appear ok, so may take the plunge there. :thumb:

Just to say thanks to all those you helped on here or via PM. :thumb:

Finally got the one I was after -

It's the new "fake nomex" CWU jacket. It's manufactured by Alpha Industries as the "Maguire".

Very nice quality and fit only thing wrong is it doesn't have the bi-swing back.

Not to overtly advertise the seller, but their service was excellent and very prompt.

Another sellers blurb -

The "McGuire" CWU-45P is the closest thing to the current issue CWU Nomex flight jacket, but it's made from nylon instead of Nomex. In fact, we doubt you'll see any visible difference. The color, texture & feel of this jacket's nylon outershell accurately mimics the color, texture & feel of Nomex -- but without the fire retardant characteristics or the $250-plus price tag of a genuine Nomex flight jacket! The McGuire has all the features of the military issue CWU-45P, including polyester quilted lining, two large double-stitched velcro-closure front cargo pockets, felled seam construction, heavy-duty zipper over wind flap, knit cuffs & waistband, one inside "map pouch" for additional storage, and a zippered utility/pen pocket on the left sleeve. Chest plaque for velcro-backed leather ID included. If you want an authentic reproduction of the military-issue CWU, at less than half the price of the genuine article, the "McGuire" is the jacket for you!
