According to the people on the Planes TV chat, it's gone down on/in to a bridge near Shoreham.

Whether you believe them or not, I don't know! Their geography doesn't seem great though...

Seems they had started their display, it wasn't a problem on take-off.

From @BmthAirFest:

"We are aware of the situation with the Red Arrows - will update you accordingly. The #airfest will continue as programmed!"

They were on their way in, rescue assets on scene but out of respect and in order not to feed press that is all I will say on this for now.

Reports are always sketchy at this stage. Just hope that everyone on the ground is safe and that the pilot has banged out okay.

Lets just think before we post/comment . Lets wait for the official update and not add to the "wild" speculation already being bandied around by all the "experts"

not sure, but I think it was some brave "Jo Public" that pulled him out, good on them if so!

No point in speculating who it is right now.

A real shame as the Reds are just brilliant! I hope the pilot is ok.

And there's plenty more where that came from!

Indeed.

From BBC News:
Shaun Spencer-Perkins, who witnessed the crash from Throop Mill, said: "I heard a rushing sound and I saw a plane about 15m above the ground racing across the fields.

"It impacted and bounced across the field, made it across the river. Members of the public jumped into the water to search for the cockpit. We waved down the helicopter, I took off my son's orange jacket and my wife's red jumper to get the attention of the helicopter."
