Hi all,
Noticed on the back of 2 low loaders heading onto the A303 from the A34 about an 1-2 hours ago was an EE Lightning. As I was heading in the other direction at the time I couldn't really make out serial or markings, anyone have any info on this?

That doesnt look as bad as i thought it would by now. Cant understand red tailing it in the colours its in

Surly going to that trouble you would make it 'AA'? Is it me or does anyone else think they look unhappy in different paint schemes?

Been a while since i was over that way.
Part of it was a buisness park and the storage place was otherside of the road.
There was talk of various enterprises taking on the site but as far as i know nothing happened and no part open to the public as such.

Jinks, having been responsible for and carrying out the refinishing of 770 at Waddo...all be it in gloss,i'm a firm believer that ALL airframes should be restored in a scheme that was relevant to their service period.I've painted numerous types over the years,Tucano's,Jags,Tornados,JP's,Dominies,Hawks,Sea Harriers...the list gos on,and some of the schemes we have had put in front of us,have been nothing more than kids stuff...if applied they they would of looked shocking

Totally agree tg13. Im sure you get alot more satisfaction out of restoring something to how it should look than making a lucky airframe look gordy or toy-like. May i say a big thumbs up for what you do and have done with XR770. Ive not seen it in person yet, but it looks superb from when it was at my mates farm.
p.s. Am i right in thinking that gloss is more hard wearing and easier to clean?

Guys,
Westfields is a storage area that used to be part of RAF Chilmark, this site is all above ground. It is a left turn off B3089 at the western end of Dinton village, travel down about 800m and it's the gate on the left, approx 7 miles out from Salisbury. The site consists of several very large storage sheds, so it will probably be put inside, out of sight! I've never tried to get in but understand visitors are not encouraged. Norm

How much of the old RAF Chilmark is open to the public, to wander around.
I understand all the old underground tunnels are closed off now, only visited once when they had trains running around the site, and very surprised how big the site was.
And it would be nice to photo the old Lighning at the same time.
