Does anyone know if there will be a king's birthday flypast rehearsal like there has been in the past.
I was there at Cranwell for yesterdays 80th rehearsal and just wondered if they will consider that as also the rehearsal for the Kings birthday or will we be treated to another rehearsal 1 week before the birthday. ?

Kings Birthday Flypast is listed as 14/06/2025 on the Red Arrows Display Dates : https://www.raf.mod.uk/display-teams/re ... /displays/

Seems logical that there would be a rehearsal for timings etc. Keep an eye on the NOTAMS nearer the time.

I see - thank,s a little too early then. I knew the date for the actual one but just wondered if they would bother with a rehearsal given that they have effectively just done one on Monday and then will of doen an actual one next week, all be it maybe with differing aircraft and a formation of 80 next week and a formation of C111 or whatever.

I think you've just answered your own question as to why there needs to be a rehearsal!!!

Different date, timing, aircraft, formations, frequencies, route, etc etc etc.

Well maybe not quite so simple
The route is the same.
The date is not far different. The time is 45min different so near as the same, the formations are never done in the rehearsal as they are done out of sight and the reds do not participate in the rehearsal neither does the BBMF. So that only leaves the big -uns which have just done a rehearsal.
Although there were no helicopters in this one which may be a factor for another rehearsal if they are in the kings one as the other stuff have a long approach to get themselves sorted but the helicopters have to jump in front of a moving train of aircraft approaching faster than them

So will all the same pilots be flying this one as well? and the same controllers controlling it? and civil ATC who will effect airspace restrictions to allow the formation to pass through? and are the entry and exit points the same, and emergency exit points and procedures the same?

I'd argue that's a whole lot of ambiguity with unacceptable risk if some level of step through and rehearsal isn't done.

are you saying next week there will be a aircraft formation in the shape of 80? where is that info from? i understand there is only 23 aircraft taking part and what was done on Monday (if you include reds and BBMF) will take you to 23. I don't think any typhoons have been up practicing this formation and I don't think we have enough that are free to do this as a lot are busy on Ops.

It's actually 32 aircraft, its 23 aircraft "plus Rad Arrows"

I have no inside info but I would happily but a bet on there being an 80 formation and yes they have been practising something out of the way of your beady eyes - https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10 ... 62356270

OH MY - you are correct - I really dont know what happened there I thought I was looking at new stuff.
I would not be surprised if they do an 80 though and actually I will be a little disappointed if they do not.
Are some things just impossible to do - the 0 is ok but the 8 ?

I'm sure that would require no less than 12 aircraft. Iv not heard that many take off from coningsby in one go this week. I may be wrong but not seen or heard any mention of it.

You have to scroll down a bit, but it says "The procession will conclude with the Mall being filled with members of the public and a fly past featuring the Red Arrows and 23 current and historic military aircraft"

Yes, a lot of news publications have been saying 23 including Reds for some reason but the official statement from the .Gov website stated 23 aircraft AND the Red Arrows.

This thread is getting so mixed up with references to KBF and VE flypasts I for one cannot see the wood for the trees. Can't we keep the two separate? Fairly sure there is a VE thread already - if not anyone who wants to post VE stuff could they please start one.

They rehearse for all the flypasts over London, as its the most congested airspace in the South of England. And yet you clearly expect one size fits all...!!

A simple look back on this forum would have answered your question
