Well how many were based in Scotland for anything other than exercises....

Well how many were based at Catterick, Honington, Andover, Hereford, Valley, Newark? They may not have based in Scotland but they were very frequent visitors.

More so what?? None were based at those locations along with another dozen or so locations on the flypast.

No planned route will please all the people who are interested in the Puma.

From the top of my head the following have Puma connections,


Catterick - The Puma was used regularly at this basic infantry training school, often recruits first military airborne experience ( there was a sad fatal Puma accident near Catterick in 2007 )

Honington - I don't know but suspect it relates to working with RAF Regiment

Andover - is UK Land Force HQ or similar - all the top bods

Hereford- the Special Forces have long used Puma in many many locations both in training and on active tasks

Valley - handy stopping point before crossing the water to NI - a proper RAF airbase ( with based helicopters too )

Newark - easy pass by whilst en route - Newark already has a Puma as an exhibit ( XW208 )


No doubt plenty of other "reasons" too.


The Puma fleet has been with us for ages and ages - hopefully you've enjoyed them over the many years.

Currently our XW208 is the only Puma preserved in a UK aviation museum and our Southfield Site HLZ has hosted Puma landings for more than 30 years (even before it was an approved HLZ).

Would have been nice to see them at Sennybridge or Pembrey for a final time. Great memories of them at both locations . Farewell to the Puma. Thank you for your service .

Apart from XW222 preserved in the Long Kesh Museum, Co Antrim and XW241 in the Farnborough museum!

Apologies for the lack of knowledge, the Ulster Aviation Society oversight is a particular personal embarrassment as NAM has recently handed over two gyrocopters to them!

Our support from the Puma Force since acquiring XW208 in 2018 has been particularly strong and they have provided many leads regarding airframes and spares that were not part of the MoD disposal programmes.

Or Otterburn, they spent plenty of time there.

Which 3 x Puma's are being used on the flypast today.

Does anyone know which aircraft were still active this month at Benson, in Cyprus, and in Brunei?

Also which aircraft were involved in the Brunei flypast (was that on the 18th?), and what's happening in Cyprus?

ZJ957, ZA939, XW220, XW224 and ZJ954 Visually confirmed from photos around the UK

Akrotiri
ZJ955, ZA940, XW237 from FR24
ZA940 XW232/7? from https://www.instagram.com/p/DHvconvtUqg ... BiNWFlZA==

Brunei
XW231 has a tiny bit of FR24 data from 2024

Akrotiri and Brunei data is not a conclusive list and not also within the last month.
Forces news said in a recent video there's 17 still in service as well although I'm not sure how reliable that is

The Cyprus Flypast was on the 27th March, and involved XW232/P ZA940/V and probably /X (ZJ955?).
