It is a selection at this stage, not an order. I would imagine the number to be acquired will be announced with the actual order

As they are supposed to replace the C130, maybe a 1 for 1 swop might be in order?

Brazil already has had some of the Gripen E/Fs delievered and got them in service. They have appeared within the last week or so with kill markings of USAF F-15Cs while taking part in CRUZEX.
