C-160 Prang

Post by seven » Thu Jan 25, 2024 10:43 pm

A Turkish AF Transall has had a bad day, some stunning footage of the approach. Reported as the last one flying(?) 69-036.

The video's been geolocated to here:

38°45'32.76"N 35°31'8.83"E

Looks like a rather low downwind lefthand to runway 25 at Kayseri-Erkilet. Well done to the crew for making the field.

Considering how traumatic the experience was for all involved, the pilot did extraordinarily well recovering the plane to on the runway. Kudos to them :thumb:

Most of the Turkish C160s are stored, another 2 were converted to the same as the accident aircraft, as to them being airworthy currently (pass). A couple are preserved and another pair serve as GIAs. They actually only lost one that caught fire in 1988. So maybe others may get returned to flight.
