Post by scottoz8 » Wed Mar 22, 2023 10:10 pm

Just in ,
an Australian Taipan has ditched offshore near Jervis Bay, NSW. All 10 on board, safe, although two members had minor injuries.

Witnesses stated flames coming from engines.

All Taipans grounded until further notice.

"Taipan" equals NH-90 in Australian service.

It's going to be yet another nail in the coffin for the Taipan service record if a mechanical issue is found to have been the issue as the ADF cannot wait to get rid of both Airbus helicopter types out of service soon enough to be replaced by the 25 x Apache E and 40 x Blackhawk before 2025.
If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

But on the other hand, the helicopter ditched safely, floatation worked, and crew survived. That’s a pretty good record for an incident at sea.

I posted that before any details (and photos) of the incident were released, regardless the ADF are still desperate to get rid of the Tiger & Taipan as soon as possible.
