I suspect that may be a legacy of when DT was running the show and he wanted to pull stuff from Spangdahlem. I guess people then added Ramstein into the mix off the back of this!

Building of the new medical facility next to Ramstein airbase has begun, and also a lot of other facilities at the cost of 979 million dollars are being build at that location.
So Ramstein is gonna close, by the logic of some people…

well what many people don´t understand since 2004 ! Ramstein Air Base is a NATO Base ! not more a pure US Forces Base,it´s lead by USA yes,but all NATO Countries have soldier here stationed (no wonder with the NATO Allied Air Command HQ here) anyway IF ... IF the Americans would PULL out of Ramstein ,the NATO and several NATO Units would use further that base... to close this facility as an air base / airport would mean no western civilisation anymore and NO NATO at all   ..... so before RS close the feck Hell would be freezed  ....thats rock solid....

cheers D.

I don't agree that in the unlikely event that Ramstein is closed as an air base/ airport it would mean that there would be no Western Civilisation or NATO. Prehaps removing its status as HQ USAFE-AFRICOM or HQ NATO Air Component may change how effective the West protects itself, however this is all supposition! I suspect there are some folk on here who work in or study International Relations who have a more educated and balanced view on the effect it would have on European Defence if this 'fence line rumour' were to become real world!!
