Anyone know why ADSB is showing a T-38 operating out of Lakenheath, up to Yorkshire and back again? I'm sure it must be a borrowed transponder

Because AE0000 was previously used by that T-38, and now it isn't.

Last week "Bolar11" flew messaging I'm a "T-38" with registration "63-8146" and indeed hex code AE0000. Up and down the Grafenwohr Range in Germany, surely a LN F-15E. It ended when the 'real' 63-8146 powering up at Randolph, where it flew a mission as "Tack1". For a short while they showed up on ADSB on both sides of the ocean, right up to the point where Tack1 started to taxi out for a morning mission. Bit of electronic fun. However a box or transmitter coded "AE000" apparently can be given out multiple times. I thought at least the hex code is hard-wired to the box or an airframe. Guess not...

If that had been a real T38 Talon, I’d have used my TARDIS to get there before it did

I would expect a lift from Cornwall as a reward for the heads up....
