Gamston Retford - DEA Aviation & military stuff?

Post by fatherfaff » Mon Jun 20, 2022 9:32 am

I had a quick stop at Gamston the other day and noted 2-WKTJ Beech 300 Super King Air 350 of DEA Aviation there which appears to be an electronic surveillance aircraft. Is this used for military operations? There was also a very dark grey tail of what I thought was a bizjet but on reflection may have been another Beech King Air visible with what looked like a small Egyptian or similar flag on the tail - would there be a military aircraft at Gamston?

2- is the ICAO civil aviation prefix allocated to Guernsey, a quick google shows 2-WKTJ has spent a fair amount of time operating for the European border force in the Mediterranean some time ago.

There's a few DEA aircraft there, few Da-42 types as well as King airs. I flew from there a few weeks back and I think I saw 2 Da-42 and 1 King air.

There was also a biz jet hangared, Citation type - the Dea stuff is used for a lot of surveys, they use WhiteKnight as their callsign.

DEA basically provide private sector ISTAR to Governments and other organisation.

They had a couple of grey Diamonds, but all 'technically' Civil
