15 to 20 mins after the launch. Probably closer to the 20 min mark

Check the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqWfidPK4uA&" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; its what a member of FC got during the STS-131 shuttle launch from April last year. Again was Discovery. Original launch thread can be found here viewtopic.php?f=90&t=9361" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It comes up across south Wales and then heads off over Devon area then down into france so look west and almost straight up (30-40 degress at a guess from the horizon)

If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

Over South Wales? I'd better get the kettle on :Wow:

Lots of interesting stuff about the abort (TAL) sites at Zaragoza (LEZG) and Morón (LEMO) in Spain and Istres, France (LFMI) here:

Absolutely fascinated guys! Thanks for this. Never really taken an interest in all this since Columbia first flew in '81.

Caught live footage of that launch from a hotel room in Manhattan. Was lucky enough, just over 2 weeks later, to be at the Cape when she returned from Edwards on top of the 747. A VERY memorable day. :thumb:

In 2001 was lucky again to catch Atlantis, again on the back of a 747 OTT Seaworld, again routing Edwards to the Cape.

Launch is still scheduled for 21:50. As Gary says in the real world +1 hour to the US countdown. So 1 hour & 56 mins.

Don't ask me why though :S

There are a couple of holds left one at 20min that lasts for 10 mins and one 9 mins which lasts ** mins.

This will explain the time difference better than i could :lol: http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shutt ... wn101.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; & http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shutt ... ainer.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
