Red Arrows at Silverstone question(s).......

Post by Unknown74 » Mon Jul 19, 2021 3:44 am

Hi guys & Gals, have a smail question regarding the Reds, was watching the TV with the coverage of the Silverstone GP and I saw a brief showing of the Red Arrows Display, and I was puzzled, were they displaying with just 8 Hawk Jets yesterday? Just when they were shown on TV and they only appeared briefly there only appeared to be 8 Hawks.

Also I wondered when they appeared over the National Anthem being played I wondered why they didn't appear from over the band going towards the grid not over the grid towards the band.

I heard bird strike, I thought it was odd that they flew over when the anthem was in full flow, don't they usually do it as it's closing ?

They flew 8 ship every day at Goodwood.

Also we were down in the Cotswolds, Should of been for RIAT :'( but i saw one red arrow go into Fairford Saturday , Then a 7 ship Sunday around 11.30 and a single ship abiut 12,15 so total of 9 which i would assume would include Red 10.

At Goodwood they said one of the pilots was unwell so my guess is that is the same.

Thanks

Red 10 said at Silverstone one of the pilots was unwell, but also heard bird strike mentioned too.

"Also I wondered when they appeared over the National Anthem being played "

The Reds were on time. I suspect the playing of the National anthem was late.

Red 10 Arrived at Fairford Saturday.

8 Reds Departed Scampton yesterday on time, with one quickly landing (bird strike??).
1 Red departed Scampton about 30 mins after the first lot departed, presumably the bird strike pilot in a spare jet?

I believe that to be the case. They should have flown over immediately after the National Anthem had finished but the band was late starting - not through any fault of their own I understand.

I believe Red 10 arrived at Fairford on Saturday for the Virtual Air Tattoo, as far as i read elsewhere anyway.

I also believe 1x Red Arrows Hawk is still on the deck at Fairford outside the B-2 sheds today (it was there yesterday and haven't heard it depart yet).

They did a 1 minute round of applause for nhs staff. I believe this made the band late playing the national anthem. They always fly straight down the main straight from club corner. Is always a great sight and sound when you sit at club and listen to the national anthem then you get the red white and blue straight over the top.

Gotta love it when a plan 'falls apart'! Which part of AFTER the flypast did they not understand? Doh!
I'm guessing the ninth jet is currently c/s "Covid 19" & maintaining somewhat more than 2 metres social distancing?
