From the press reporting

The Ministry of Defence said in a statement: "Two pilots are being checked by medics after ejecting from a Royal Navy Hawk aircraft from 736 Naval Air Squadron during a flight from RNAS Culdrose. An investigation will begin in due course. We won't be providing further detail at this time."

Please don't speculate on here. Wait for facts from the MOD.

What a relief they seem to be ok.
They are never far from danger.

Aircraft was squaking 7700 code, so apparently had a malfunction before it crashed. Good to see Martin Baker can hand out some certificates again.

Veterans minister and Plymouth MP Johnny Mercer has stated that the Hawk had suspected engine failure.

Rescue 22A is the Kingair (G-HMGB) currently in the English Channel. Rescue 924 from Newquay responded to the crash this morning.

Great that both got out and no-one on the ground was hurt either. Seems that the Navy have deciding to start scrapping their Hawks earlier than expected!
