Euro travel

Post by slogen51 » Sat Jun 27, 2020 8:17 am

According to the news travel to Europe might soon be possible without the need for quarantine on return to the UK and hopefully there will be a quid pro quo arrangement for entry into Europe.

I personally wouldn't be travelling by air anytime soon but I think a car ferry is perfectly acceptable. So that just leaves accommodation, I assume hotels are open in Europe?

Eindhoven could still be a possibility!

You should be OK in any competently governed country on the mainland, so long as you observe their rules scrupulously. I have contacts in Europe who have told me of people getting eye watering fines for not wearing face masks, and in one case, using gym equipment ion her local park in Vienna, even though she had a doctor's note telling her to maintain her fitness routine. My guess is that your problems will start on your return. Good hunting.............

Not for Terri and I. Lost our cruise in March, paid £1,0000 for multi-trip travel policy, but have decided to do nothing this year. Couple of expensive house projects instead. Was able to defer my travel policy for twelve months at not much extra cost, so three trips next year [hopefully]. :thumb: :thumb:

£1000 or £10,000 ? Either way that’s a hefty price for a travel insurance policy 😮

£1,000. Multitrip Wife and myself. I am nearly 78, fit as a flea, but following a big cancer op 9 years ago, with a post-op blood clot on a lung that nearly killed me. As a consequence I get caned for travel insurance, and it NEVER comes off your record!!. I thought it was a good deal, actually. I have two choices. Not go, or go. I prefer the latter :) :) .

International travel will only be for the brave for a while in my view. People will be travelling during a period of known heightened medical risk, a risk for which all but a few travel insurers have stopped providing any cover. I'm sure anyone who tries to use their European Health Insurance Card for care will receive a warm welcome.

We have also yet to be advised as to what is meant by a travel corridor.

I personally will NOT travel anywhere... Not on Germany and much less to other countries. The European Health Insurance Card won't do you much good and most if not all commercial insurance providers exclude pandemics among other things.

I wonder how many parents with kids who could have gone back to school, but who decided it wasn’t safe, will suddenly decide putting them on an aeroplane/ferry - particularly before the school holidays - is a valid and safe thing to do?

Sad fact is you're safer from COVID-19 in mainland Europe than you are here at the moment, so don't let the virus put you off travelling.

Yeah, just getting there might be the issue unless you use the tunnel.
