The Buccaneer Aviation Group

Post by XW544 » Fri Jun 12, 2020 12:04 pm

The Buccaneer Aviation Group is very pleased to announce that our new home will be

Cotswold Airport – Kemble

As many of you will know Kemble has been home to some of the Buccaneers before, following retirement from the Royal Air Force. And we look forward to making some more Rolls Royce Spey noise there for you all to hear !

Following consultation with Cox automotive at Bruntingthorpe a timeline is in place that will see us vacated and in residence at Kemble before September 30th.
In the next few hours and days you will see that we have been busy preparing for this and will be launching a crowdfunding scheme with some exciting rewards for our supporters to help us achieve our goal and allow the aircraft to
continue to move under their power.
Transport quotes are already being received and we really do need your help !

The Buccaneer Aviation Group will be able to continue to hold taxi days and other events at Kemble to fund our continuing existence and we have also agreed to provide active care for the Canberra pr9’S , Hunter T7 and Gnat already in
residence.
we are extremely pleased to have found a new home where we can continue to keep the history alive, and thank you in advance for any help given.

We will of course keep you updated as the move progresses and hope to see you all at Cotswold airport.

Definitely. The Canberras at Kemble have been parked up outside for a while now down the far end of the airfield, so will be great to keep them in good condition. Any idea if the two Canberras at Kemble are in taxi-able condition?

When I last saw them at Kemble last year XH134 had engines in that were taxi-able as the air-frame was being preserved and maintained by Cotswold airport themselves and XH135s engines were also being preserved for spares (Stored somewhere else i believe). Wouldn't think it would take much to get at least one going.

Excellent!

For the Buccaneer group - are they not a Charity? Just wondering as Gift Aid could be added if so and that would help a long way to reaching the fundraising target.

The initial target has been met, whoop! https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/save-relo ... aneer-jets
We are absolutely delighted to have reached our original target which will enable us to fund the move of our two jets to Cotswold Airport Kemble. We are encouraged to look beyond this target to our stretch target with your support. Our need to continue the drive is to allow for unexpected expenses, after all we haven’t done this before! Police escort and Highways costs have been unexpectedly high, so please don’t ease off, please support us. Every pound raised will go to the move and replacement facilities at Kemble. Remember we have lost our entire infrastructure we enjoyed at Brunty.

Should we have money once TBAG is established at Kemble, The Buccaneer Aviation Group has always had as its long term goal the provision of cover for one or both of our aircraft to shelter them from the detrimental effect of the weather and allow such improvements as repainting to take place. Relocation to Kemble will secure the long term future for our aircraft and reinforce the groups focus on the achievement of this goal.

We are a cross-section of society and as such we are acutely aware of how difficult many of our fellow citizens are finding life at the moment. It is with this awareness in mind we are so unbelievably grateful that you choose to support and fund this move and with it provide a life line for these two Buccaneers and all the experiences their continuing existance will to bring to many people.
