indeed it should look a bit similar to the Royal Air Force Air Support Command colour scheme but with a union jack wrapped around the tail.

Like the scheme the VC-10 C.1s used to wear?

Yeah something like that again it's only rumours so we will have to wait and see but seems likely given today's movement.

Based off of previous times for painting of MRTT's should be around 3 weeks till departure? I'm sure others will know more.

Sorry to appear negative but there is little in terms of concrete substance in this thread, other than ZZ336 arrived at Cambridge (confirmed from other reports). Everything else seems to be "should be" "rumour" and specalative supposition.

That's a shame, would've been nice to see a return of the white tops

So that'll be one less tanker in the fleet then! Can't imagine it being used for AAR missions if it's in a VIP scheme...

Won’t be an issue for UK training or exercises. Maybe it won’t be seen in theatre, but as the designated VIP jet it probably spends minimal time on AAR Ops as possible.

Doesn't '336 normally operate as the standby tanker for QRA operations ?

There is an easy solution to that, were not the four machines that are still in use with G-VYG? registrations fitted with tanking facilities. Just transfer one of them back to military use as a tanker.

That would waste lease revenue though.

Worth remembering the VC10s and TriStars tanked for years in a smart white/grey/blue colour scheme.

There's a difference between what was basically a high-visibility transport scheme, and an aircraft repainted to look like it belongs to the government.

Note French, Dutch, Czech, Polish, etc. VIP aircraft and how they differ from normal "military" colours!

Yes, but we don’t know what it’ll look like yet. And we don’t know if it’ll be kept off tanking just for that reason.

All this speculation, maybe we should just wait and see ;)
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

Yep.

I see Twitter is in meltdown over it being such a waste of money!
