Bases flying?

Post by Tiger 1 » Mon Mar 23, 2020 10:33 am

Hi everyone

Was just wondering if in the current situation... as Covid19 caused any of our RAF... Army or Navy bases to curtail or stop flying?

Stay safe and well.

Regards.

Lakenheath just said all flying suspended until Thursday.

EDIT: This has been proven false, see further post below.

Judging by ADSB Valley, Shawbury, Mildenhall, Brize Norton and Cranwell are all flying or have flown today.

Limited activity at Waddington today, just the 2 Shadows up and 2 Phenoms in the pattern.
1 Red up from Scampto earlier.
Coningsby are on nights with an 1800 start today.

Than guys for all your info... I called in to Yeovilton today for a quick lunch break.

Only saw 3 Wildcats get airborne... total noted were 9 Wildcats and one Merlin... very quiet.

Many thanks again.

Regards.

6.20 in, they confirm that there are no plans to cancel the flying activities. Only a reduction due to moving people around.

Waddo have only launched an RJ and an E3 today, both are working over Eastern Europe.
Coningsby appeared very quiet last night.
Cranwell closed until Mid day today.

Certainly seems much quieter today. No activity from Shawbury, and very limited from Brize

Cranwell NOTAM has now changed to closed all day.

Waddington has one controller for Director, Approach and Lars service.

Wattisham had two pairs of AH's up at the same time last night, active this afternoon as well.

No F15s overhead so far, yesterday or today. Two low C130s last evening.

No doubt Lossie & Coningsby will only be priority (Q) traffic only.

Lakenheath are not flying hence no F-15s. Very quiet at home in Brandon. Understandable of course but unusually so. All rather surreal at the moment. Just heard an RAF C-17 go over heading to Mildenhall but missed it!

Lossie has been very busy flying today, doing JTAC work on Tain using Kinloss as their hold point. P8 ZP802 was up from Kinloss as well.
