Question regarding pilots oxygen masks?

Post by Unknown74 » Sun Mar 22, 2020 10:51 pm

Just wondering what the position is with the RAFs Typhoon and F-35B Lightning pilots plus any other Fast Jet such as Hawk Jets with the pilots oxygen masks with all this Covid 19 stuff, do the Masks get cleaned/ washed on a regular basis or do the pilots wash and clean them themselves?

I may be wrong but in the case of the F-35 I think the helmets and therefore masks are bespoke to each pilot?

As I understand it, when the kit is checked post flight by the Safety Equip. staff, they are cleaned with an antiseptic wipe.

After last flight daily servicing is what we called it when I was doing it. In those days it was just distilled water. This was the early 80s though. Think they might have modernised a bit since then :D
If it cant be fixed with a hammer, then its an electrical problem.
