Turkey On The Attack?

Post by Vulcan74 » Sat Oct 12, 2019 9:15 am

Now Trump has withdrawn is forces from Northern Syria, Turkey has decided to go after the Kurds in that area bombing & causing more chaos in that region. What was the need for this ? yes they were getting attacked by some of the kurds but this will only escalate the problem out there. With ISIS breaking out of bombed jails, we will back to where we started.

I Believe It Was So They Had Enough Troops To Potentially defend against anything that could happen in Iran.

US troops came rather close to being struck by Turkish fire last night, not sure whether this will have an impact on the situation or not.

The posts read political, religious and extirpating to me...... but military airpower is a huge tool in modern warfare so surely falls under Fighter Control. Just mention an airframe or two or links to video footage of Turkish F16s on a mission.

I guess " General Chat" may be the heading - on another forum I use, they have a section called Ruffled Feathers though political extremism and tribal disputes or greater, is a definite non starter.
Perhaps less is more on this thread now.

Regarding the aviation aspect; I've seen on assorted news channels F16s and there was a report of drones being used for recce.
Just out of interest; any other a/c types being used?

Interestingly, for me anyway, Snoop 95 is yet to further comment after questioning the content but all fine by me. We're all the same Vulcan74. Cheers.

The airspace over the mission areas must be busier than usual with at least 4 countries flying an assortment of airframes, satellites and drones so Aviation does umbrella part the topic.

My question arose having read the first four posts in this thread, which can only be described as of a strategic and political nature and questionably appropriate to a military aviation website imho. I emphasise questionably appropriate. Subsequent posts have barely touched on the aviation aspect, but it's a start.

Do you know what I find helps if I come across a topic I’m not interested in? I don’t click on it, works wonders!

It's only when you read something that you know what the writer has in mind!
