ZP801 airborne

The first UK Poseidon MRA1 is airborne on its maiden flight using callsign BOE171. Its repositioning from Renton to Boeing Field for fitting of its mission kit. Formal handover will be in October.

The P-8 now carries lettering "Pride of Moray" emblazoned on fuselage. :thumb:

When they have finished testing it, I don't think the mission kits is installed yet

Mission equipment installation first. Then to NAS JAX in the autumn for some workup and testing.

So 2020 then. I did read somewhere quite while back, not sure how accurate it was? That we are purchasing the nine P8's over a ten year period?

I read a while back that the first two aircraft are due to be delivered to Kinloss in February 2020, and will fly from there for a few months until Lossie is ready for them. Whether that means the infrastructure work at Lossie is behind schedule I don't know. Seems a strange state of affairs.

It’s not behind schedule just a lot to do in a short period. Hangar/Ops/Eng building(it’s massive), new hard standings, taxiways and runway strengthening all required.
