M18 Road Runing Airspeed Horsa LH291

Post by Tiger 1 » Wed Jun 19, 2019 3:23 pm

Hi everyone

At 4pm this afternoon... I passed two lowloaders carring a section a piece of the Airspeed Horsa... Serial LH291.

These were both in convoy heading up the M18 passing Junction 2 Doncaster and heading towards the M180.

Both sections had an RAF Cosford Air Show advert on the rear ends.

Hi Tiger 1

I saw them yesterday on the M69, and as I glanced at them they looked like the outer wing section of a Dak.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks Motley

That would explain the direction it was travelling... most likely going over by Ferry from Hull.

Thanks for the info.

I met the guy over from Holland who was arranging this. It will most likely stay in Holland after the show.

Is it the one from the Assault Glider Trust?

I had some contact with them a few years back on behalf of the museum; this link show the move of the Horsa from Shawbury to Cosford!

Will be put up for a temp display near Arnhem this summer and then move for display in the Overloon museum.
