Does anyone know what is housed in the bulbous fairing above the landing-gear sponson on the right-hand side of the VH-3Ds? Noticed it yesterday when they landed and taxied in at Stansted.

A question about the VH-3Ds
Re: A question about the VH-3Ds
It's an APU
https://www.airvectors.net/avs61_1.htmlThe "VH-3A" was a VIP helicopter for the US presidential flight, with eight built new and one converted from an SH-3A. The VH-3As featured T58-GE-8E engines; a luxury interior; beefed-up communications; and an auxiliary power unit (APU) -- the APU being mounted in a fairing on the rear of the right main gear sponson.

Thanks for that info. I was wondering about that myself, and funnily enough I did think it was an APU.

Thanks for the info, igorski. You don't often see views of the right-hand side of those choppers.
Re: A question about the VH-3Ds
I was interested to notice that Mr Trump used the VH-3Ds for the UK Leg of his Trip/ Tour then he switched to the VH-60s for his Dublin and France Legs.
