I can't say I have taken much notice for the last few years. But the Indian AF seems to have vastly improved compared to the accident rates of 20 odd years ago.

Unless Tim Holden knows more

Between the procurement process in the Indian MOD and the IAF safety record I'm surprised that the PAF don't just sit back and wait 'till the Indians run out of airframes.
Back in the day it was said that the easist way to acquire an F-104 was to buy a field in Germany .... and wait!

Further escalation this evening, heavy artillery being used with reports of civilian casualties on both sides.

The only fighter base in Jammu & Kashmir is Srinagar, where 51 squadron are based with the MiG21 BISON Upgrade. It is still a worthy opponent in the 'within visual range' scenario, as indicated by the shooting down of a PAF F16 during this engagement.

There is no proof of a PAF F-16 being shot down. Even the journalist that published the story that the Pakistani aircrew had been beaten to death has now withdrawn it.
