How many Tornados still in service?
How many Tornados still in service?
According to a report on the state of the RAF on y'day's Forces TV News there are 41 Tornados still in service. Surely this is a mistake as I seem to remember reading on this site that there were only 2 dozen at the time of last year's Queen's B'day flypast!

I'm sure FF is in a better position than me, to confirm the true number I've adjusted mine signature, had a message to say two more had been withdrawn but didn't give the serial.
Thanks for the confirmation FF

Re: How many Tornados still in service?
Just goes to show you can't believe everything you hear on the news as the report should have been more diligently researched. I suspect it's been a long time since there were that many in service. Thus the RAF has significantly less combat a/c than stated in the report which was the subject of the news item and hence even more grounds for concern re - achieving 'critical air mass' in any future conflict which I think was the term used. Never fear though as USAF is expanding big time!
