Forces net reporting 2 Merlin's going to train with the USN on sub hunting skills.
Ever get the idea of a step up to cope with the increase in submarine traffic.

820 Naval Air Squadron (NAS) are sending a team and two of their Merlin Mk2 helicopters to the Atlantic Underwater Test and Evaluation Centre, to take part in tactical development and training alongside their colleagues from United States military.

I see that the ship's Captain announced that 9 different aircraft types had landed on the carrier's deck since commission. Obviously the F35B, Merlin, Wildcat, Apache(?) and maybe Harrier, but what else?

Probably the two types of both Merlin and Wildcat are counted as different types, and of course a Chinook which adds up to seven.

I'm only guessing but I assume he will be very technical so Wildcat HM.2 and AH.1 (so two types) Merlin HC.3, HC.3i and HC.4 (three types). And I'm sure Chinook has landed on deck too?

Don't think a Harrier has visited but I know the V-22 and MH-53E did whilst off the SE USA coast on the F35B trials.

Wildcat (x2), Merlin (x3), Osprey, Chinook, Lightning, and Stallion gets you up to the nine. Not seen photos of anything else so I'd say Steven and Bluetail are right in that different marks are counted as different types.

Not sure a Sea King has ever seen the desk of the QE (as the aircraft was retiring before QE reached operational service surely there'd be no need to qualify the type when not needed?) but I think a Dauphin has, and also we must not forget the one type well publicised but not mentioned here that visited the carrier desk.... Carrier pigeon.....

Correct, some clown landed one on it when it was berthed at Invergordon.

Didn’t a MH60 land on the QE from the USS George Bush last year when the pair met up off Scotland?

Have more than one mark of Chinook land on board? I have seen pics of HC5s. Not seen any pics of Army Wildcat

And one of the crew flew one of those little RC helicopters from the deck before anything else!
