Hi, should the tornado retire next year as planned, what can we expect at Marham, will there be some sort of show like they did with the f3 or Lightning’s?

I'd like to think they would at least do a fly-over tour of old bases of the "Mighty Fin".

Would this be the same Marham that failed so badly at the recent "Organise a drunken event in a Brewery"?? Probably best to limit your hopes to something trivial done poorly & thus avoid disappointment! ;)

The difference between the F3, Lightning and Harrier is that they had plenty left at OSD. They seem to be scrapping the GR4s so quick they might not have enough to do a flypast

Perhaps WTN 9 who flies The Saudi TSP ZE 114 CS 0003 frequently on trials work to Holbeach
Range could be requested to fly PDs to the soon to be former Tornado Bases.

If you check the Warton logs you will see quite a lot of Tornado PDs and fly throughs.

Very good Nighthawke, but still too optimistic for me. I favour a 'Missing Man' formation.....All of them missing!

Quite a lot is planned for the retirement of the Tornado, the RAF are keen to give it a good send off. Expect at least two special schemed jets, I am told.

Well, well! Glass half full time. 'At least two' you think. (with the leftover '100' stickers :O) & no other Tornado a/c? All knackered-out prosecuting an un-winnable aerial assault, whilst their successors are still not quite ready to take-over? ;)

Well perhaps they should just canx it anyway as none of you will ever be happy. Maybe bring back JP233 for one last Hurrah ;)

Great to hear that a couple of special schemes are planned.
However, as they go in March 19, when might we see them? No airshows until May at the earliest....
Are they likely to keep two jets on ice until RIAT 19?

I would expect something along the lines of the jag retirement schemes, they only flew a handful of times, and didn't attend any airshows, even though it was later in the year, and the Farewell day was the day before Waddington airshow that year. I really hope Marham can put on something similar to that day, although limited participation, the spotty jag and live running/ taxi of the dessert storm jag was superb.

Fingers crossed 🤞

Mike

I doubt it, the pilots will have been long gone, and doing other things.

Here's hoping for

1x Camo Jet
1x Pinky Jet
1x Demonstrator jet
1x Modern Day jet

so only 3x colour schemes away from the norm, maybe Pinky hasn't been RTP yet so can be resurrected.
