Blue Angels Fat Albert

Post by Gus0898uk » Tue Jun 26, 2018 10:39 pm

Hoping BMs can fill me in as I am a little out of touch.
The US Navy Demo team welcomed back Fat Albert (today?) to Pensacola. Is it an ex RAF airframe?
Also why did the other model not last very long as I think it was changed about 10-12 years ago.
In the late 1990's I was lucky enough to have a JATO with the C-130 at the Reno Air Races, even took part in the airshow display, never to be forgotten. :)

There was a report that they were considering buying an Ex. RAF C-130J but I don't believe they have done so yet .

found the following on the Blue Angels facebook page :

Good Morning, #BAFans!
#FatAlbert took to the skies today for the first time in nearly 11 months for a Functional Check Flight. This is the first of many steps to return the C-130T, affectionately known as "Fat Albert," to her primary role as the #BlueAngels logistical support aircraft, and we'll keep you posted on her progress! #USMC

it would seem it is still the usual one .
