There's a practice planned for next week, 5th and 6th are main slots, with the 7th as reserve.

Have been advised by someone who works at Waddo there are only two elements in the practice, presumably with the Reds and BBMF added on the day.

Cranwell is being used as Buckingham palace, with the a/c dispersing between Cranwell and Waddinton.

No doubt the usual mix of aircraft,but interestingly this year will probably see the last Tonkas taking part in the flypast,and possibly,(if allowed),maybe the first F-35??. "Tongue in cheek",now we have a yank embedded in the Royal Family,wouldn't it be nice to cement that union,by the inclusion of say a B-1B formating along with the Reds.....that would liven it up a bit!!

Can anyone recommend good locations to get photo's of the flypast? Is Waterloo Bridge / Southbank any good? Hoping to avoid crowds around the palace / mall but still get reasonable shots.

I have to be in London babysitting in Kentish Town, and would like to see the birthday flypast on Saturday ,I am aware that the flypast follows the Strand, and the Mall coming in from the East. As its not feasible to travel any distance with a six month old baby, I would therefore appreciate advice about any suitable locations in the vacinity of Kentish town from where we might see the flypast.
Taking photos on this occasion would not be a priority.

Hi NH,

For the last 11-12 years I lived in Hackney and I saw a good percentage of all the QBF’s over the years. My preferred spots were Waterloo Bridge (if I was in town) or on the canal in and around Broadway Market. The flypast pretty much routed overhead Victoria Park/Regents Canal and headed for the Barbican towers. From Kentish Town the view is going to be distant but with binoculars you’d be able to see it (albeit from a good distance) from the top of Primrose or Parliament Hills if you could get up there? That would be my best bet if I were in your shoes. There may be some other ‘locals’ with better knowledge of vantage points in the area though. If you could get the over ground from Kentish Town West to Hackney Central and walk down to the canal bridge at the bottom of Mare Street - either position yourself there or walk down to the bridge at the bottom of Broadway Market (turn right when you get to the bridge over the canal on Mare Street) they’d be right over you.

Waterloo bridge is perfect, you can get them at a nice angle depending on how far down the bridge you decide to stand. The crowds are also nowhere near as busy as The Mall.

As for participants I'm sure all will be revealed tomorrow during the planned rehearsal.

Outside London,the mounds beside the A40 at Northolt are a very popular viewpoint for the flypast as you can see right into Central London from there!. The formation normally picks up/follows the A40 west until they reach RAF Northolt,where they either turn for Brize or split into various sections for their home bases. The mounds are known as "Northala Fields" and there is reasonable parking nearby,but it will get busy early doors!!

Does anyone know the approximate times for the rehearsal flypasts at RAF Cranwell this week please. Any help would be most appreciated.

Its in the NOTAM listed at the top of the page. Basically starting 11.00 over Southwold , 12.30 Marham, 1.00 Cranwell.
All times local, subject to change so suggest you check the NOTAM's again tomorrow.

Still any suggestions if Marham Tornado's are involved and how many. Would have thought they would have been up last week if a nine ship was expected. Indeed have RAF Marham got nine aircraft serviceable or crews available ?

The slight 'wrinkle' in my fiendish and cunning plan is that Thameslink in their infinite wisdom seem to have decide actually running trains is too much hassle. Apart from every peak hour train disappearing from the timetable this morning they seem to have withdraw the service completely from here into town on Saturday!
I'll have to investigate other routes in and hopefully see one or two of your there.

The flypast is usually 1300 local at Buck House.

Should be 1300 with a second attempt of 1700 if weather not good enough
