A 29 squadron Typhoon has been drafted in to fly as much of the route as possible.

Showing up as Typhoon FGR4 ZK363 [43C791] - "Typhoon 48"
Re: Lanc at Derwent 16th
Hearing Typhoon cancelled too due to cloudbase i think
Re: Lanc at Derwent 16th
Typhoon replaced the Lanc.
OC BBMF tweeted saying Typhoon couldn't make the Dams due to poor weather.
2 minutes later he managed to get threw and flew down.
Apparently many people are moaning....
You just can't please everyone!
Sometimes there's too much info out there.

There's no "go-round" in a glider.

I'm appalled by some comments on Twitter. It's almost as if they'd paid £5k for the Typhoon to fly down the dam & it was their right to see it.reaper493 wrote: ↑Wed May 16, 2018 11:55 amTyphoon replaced the Lanc.

The occasion was to mark 75th Anniversary of the Dambusters raid, some people appear to forget that.
Rant off, tea on.

Crowds annoyed at RAF Derwent Dambusters flypast mix-up -

"Sqn Ldr Andy Millikin, the Officer Commanding the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, tweeted that the Lancaster, and later the Typhoon, could not make it to the dams due to poor weather". (BBC)
And then suddenly a jet roared past ... not their finest hour was it

Re: Lanc at Derwent 16th
Well to be blunt - tough. Those crowds seem just to have been there to see an aircraft which was not the main focus of the event. The real reason was to remember those who risked and gave their lives so that we could have our freedom today. If they are really that keen to see either the Lancaster or a Typhoon there are plenty of other occasions to do so. As for having a go at the RAF and BBMF well they have a job to do which they do very well and the weather is not under their control.

Well said Nighthawke. I shudder to think that some pratt with an I Phone couldn't video something that he/she doesn't understand. There are a lot of 'plastic' spotters out there.

Re: Lanc at Derwent 16th
The comments and sense of entitlement on some of the Facebook posts is really quite awful. As mentioned above, there seems to be a new wave of "spotters" that think everything revolves around and is done for them. As reaper493 points out, there is too much information out there and people are acting like spoiled little brats if there isn't a picture of the bbmf schedule board posted up or they don't know immediately when "Jim" is flying.
The RAF were under no obligation to send a Typhoon out to commemorate a mission that their former colleagues flew. They did though and those who were there to take it in, pause for a moment and think about what it represented can count themselves lucky.

Lancaster on taxi. Are they trying again?
Re: Lanc at Derwent 16th
Seems to me that this whole thing is " six of one and half a dozen of another ".
FaceTwit has been in vogue with MOD for several years. There is a Tweet reported above by the CO. We post NOTAMS which encourage all of us to flock to the fence.
It was a pity about the weather and a nice gesture to divert the Typoon. Not quite what the Derbyshire tourist board advertised but hey-ho the Lanc may make an attempt today.
