Interesting B-2 activity

Post by Skywatcher » Tue Sep 13, 2016 10:53 am

Hi all
See some new terminology is being used,as just seen a YouTube video of a pair of Spirit's launching from Guam and they are calling the mission Assurance and Deterrence ,to me this seems the same as just calling it a "Global Power mission " or am I just missing the point  this mission was flown on the 26th August .
And the unit taking part was the 13th Bomb Squardron Air Force Global Strike Force "
Anyway, opinions please on the terminology ,be intresting to see what you guys think.
All the best

I can remember reading somewhere that, in a nutshell, this is due to the region of operations and providing assurance to the allies in the region from any potential aggressors (possibly China / North Korea etc). A Global Power mission is usually launched and recovered in the US

Other members may and will have more details on this

Cheers

Agree with that statement

Global Power = Projecting the USA's ability to strike anywhere in the world at a moments notice without the need to deploy. ie launch & recover to homeland
Assurance and Deterrence = We're here to stand toe to toe with our allies & work with them. I'd expect this to be deployed assets. So the Batlic Air Policing missions would come under this, as would deployments to sandy places to the east.

Shoulder to shoulder with allies, I'd hope... toe to toe with the other lot!
