Typical Sun,

They got the aircraft right at least but it is a 31sq. jet being flown by 31sq. on the day.

I saw this photo in Nuts magazine this week - great photo but I cannot help to think that the Nav is probably geting a b********** of some sorts.

Perhaps the photographer in question should have known better to post such a shot?

I'm not convinced it was doing 1400mph at the time this picture was taken.

James,

Im sure the RAF find this photograph as hilarious as all we do and the nav would have known the chances of this being put on the net, what with showing this to a bunch of people with massive lenses!

Im 100% certain no one has got in trouble for this, if anything it shoes the RAF in a good light, and I thank the photographer for letting us all see it

Brilliant, and quite funny for a Navigator! I still remember what a chap I knew (ex-Lightning pilot) used to say: "If there is anyone sat between you and the windshield you ain't aircrew..." :thumb:

EDC :D

There was something similar when the last SHAR sortie from a carrier took place wasnt there?? Held up a placard to the guy that launches them that on one side read "HI SI" (guess he was called simon), and on the reverse, just as he launched, said "I THINK I LOVE YOU". LOL

Someone is going to get in a lot of trouble over that photo.
Dave.

Spot on there.
not good to throw pics about like this in the wider media, end of the day the pilots have a bit of harmless fun for the spotters etc,
nice to see on such forums as this and other related sites, but for some to start banding them around in Mags and now the wide media is
way out.

Guess the idiot who sent the story to the media is happy.

Admittedly I have been out the Fleet Air Arm for 7 years but I can assure you that this is nothing but good morale, no one will get into trouble for this, its just a laugh, to think anything else would be a joke if you ask me!

Have you seen you tube? look at what you can see on there, eg, the RAF marshaller and no end of French AF exploits as well as some pretty good low level games of chicken by the RAF themselves, so if anyone gets in trouble for this it shows a complete lack of a sense of humour and an ignorance of the banter and camaradierie that goes on in a close knit community like you get on a squadron

Why would anyone get into trouble over that photo ?

If that's the case I can hear all lowfly photographers complaining from now on that no aircrew wave to them and ignore them ! Waving shows just as much of a lack of concentration as it does to hold up a sign if that's the case.

I'd hazard a guess 'The Scum' stumbled across the photo contacted the photographer for use of the photo and hey presto they have a story !!! The photographer of the 2nd photo if you do some googling appears he could be a "War Photographer" with quite a lot of front line action to his name. Who knows he might even frequent these or the lowfly forums judging by his website.

I am with you on what you say URKLES if anything does come of this (which I very much doubt) then this country is even worse than I thought and another stab in the back to the Guys and Girls in the Armed Forces. I just wish some of the armchair critics on these forums had actually done their bit for their country and appreciate what its like and what real banter and wind ups are like . Try getting away with the type of wind ups we used to do in the forces in civvy street you'd end up getting fired.

Sorry rant over Biggin Hill here I come......
