It's not PlanesTV's fault that more than one person decided to watch it...

I look forward to you all explaining how he would invent mobile bandwidth that would allow a stable feed from what is basically the middle of nowhere in terms of mobile data!

Take a look at Three, O2, Vodafone or whichever network provider you want and take a look at their 4G coverage maps for Doncaster airport. Coverage is near enough non-existent.

Of course, it doesn't matter does it, because you didn't see a plane land.

Would like to hear how Planes TV would explain how they were going to cope with the numbers that were going to view it due to not being able to go to the airport!!

They knew it was going to be high viewing numbers and they were a big heap of ship!

XH558's last flight should've been a great event but now most will remember it for planes TV's cock up!

Why not film from the airport building?? I doubt the airport hasn't got wired internet??

And there's a vital difference between seeing a plane land and seeing a plane land for the LAST TIME!

Usually a broadcaster will "bond" across multiple Sims from different carriers (usually 8 Sims - 2 from each carrier) - looking at the maps, there should be enough coverage there to do the job - 4G isn't really the issue as 3G across multiple bearers will be adequate.

You sound like you know what you're talking about, so I shall accept that! Of course, when those networks (well, the local cell tower!) are being saturated as everyone in the vicinity is trying to use it, you're still going to end up with the same issue.

Haven't a few carriers started sharing cell towers now?

So glad that nobody was delayed at Robin Hood International Airport. It must be so hard to deal with all 13 (yes thirteen !!!!) arrival and departures

Origin Airline Flight Arrival Status

(TFS) Tenerife Thomson 3245 1:40 AM
(PFO) Paphos Thomson 3351 6:00 PM
(POZ) Poznan Wizz 1915 8:05 PM
(GDN) Gdansk Wizz 1615 8:25 PM
(KSC) Kosice Wizz 7677 8:30 PM
(KTW) Katowice Wizz 1015 8:50 PM

Destination Airline Flight Departure Status

(PFO) Paphos Thomson 3350 7:20 AM
(RHO) Rhodes Thomson 3300 3:10 PM
(NBE) Enfidha Thomson 650 7:15 PM
(POZ) Poznan Wizz 1916 8:35 PM
(GDN) Gdansk Wizz 1616 8:55 PM
(KSC) Kosice Wizz 7678 9:00 PM
(KTW) Katowice Wizz 7016 9:20 PM

Nothing due in until 6.00pm nothing due out until 7.15pm And they say Doncaster can not deal with the crowds. I remember the crowd at Waddington when XH558 left for Bruntingthorpe, that as a crowd and I dont remember any problems then.

Well, the live feed started ok, but I guess that as the word spread and more people hooked up to the feed, it was only going to go down hill from that point onwards :( . Maybe Planes TV use TalkTalk  . As for the live chat happening on that feed, some of it was just absolutely disgusting chatter :grr: .

Overall, it seemed like a pointless flight really, and to be so secretive about it really is unfair to the millions who have funded this aircraft, so its a real shame that its ended this way.

And there's plenty more where that came from!

That's just what will show on arrival and departure boards. It doesn't take into account business aircraft, light aircraft or even military aircraft movements. Then you have to consider that the Vulcan would be one more aircraft that would need to be attended to by ground crew and directed by ATC. Then you have to take into account the thousands of spectators that would have inevitably shown up had DSA and XH558 not told them to stay away, who would have blocked up car parks intended for customers and staff of the airport (not spotters) and possibly even blocked access roads and crash gates. It's not all as simple as what the arrival and departure boards show.
