It is actually Adlertag, in English "Day of the Eagle", the first day of the German attempt to destroy the RAF prior to a proposed invasion.

oh man...short notice, don't think i'll be able to get tomorrow off :-(
might be able to work a flit to Teesside (does anyone know where they'll be, roughly?) but i'd really like to see them all before they split up (assuming they're going to do a decent amount of posing before they split up.
i must be right out the loop though, i thought there were only a coupel of Spits still in flying condition.

you can get a rough idea by looking at the waypoints on the list on google maps etc.
personally, i think this will not go ahead, if the weather forecast is remotely right, humberside is showing a good chance for a load of rain. i was going to try and pressure for a day off work but i don't like the odds of the flight going ahead so i'm going to pass. damn shame, would've loved to see all these taking off.

Hmmmm. Typical! I'm working in Essex tomorrow. Do we know which A/C are participating?
I might be able to catch one going 'home.'

I've been asking about this event for weeks now and although it's great it is going ahead it's a bit disappointing it has only had a few days 'real' notice. Also a bit disappointed it is routing York to Linton omitting Church Fenton which was actually a fighter station in 1940. In fact Nicholson won his VC whilst on detachment from Fenton.

well the weather forecast seems to have sorted itself, for those lucky enough to be able to get.
that Biggin Hill thing sounds awesome, 5hr drive for me though, too short notice for a train and/or day off i think. goddammit :-(

are they returning to the Humberside airport? i'm assuming so from the route waypoints.
edit
might be able to weasel a halfer at work and flit down. is it worth waiting on the A18 for them to take off or do they only come in over it to land? maybe better to head for the Bridge and then the airport for the landing?

Just a comment but I think the only Luftwaffe activity coinciding with this tour on Adlertag was Linton.
Just reading Stephen Bungay's excellent book, "The Most Dangerous Enemy."

Six Spitfires just passed over Spalding, heading north in loose formation.

meh, was going to dive off but on top of everything i've just seen from the waypoint thing that only one of the groups is going by the bridge and not the whole pack, so i'm gonna give it a miss :-(
shame, would love to see all 12 or 13 flitting about, dunno why there hasn't been a bit more publicity over this or a more extensive tour.

Will depend which end they're using, wind's easterly at the moment so it could be either end.
