Post by Gary » Thu Jun 18, 2015 7:40 pm

Looks like Coningsby are getting in on the act
RAF Coningsby ‏@RAFCGY 2h2 hours ago
Looking at holding a night photo shoot @RAFCGY in September. Thoughts on price, numbers, content and anything else are welcome. Thanks.

I wouldn't get too excited. Anyone remember this? Never happened.

The least we can and should do is show positive interest and encourage the idea. If this is not pushed by the likes of us and other aviation Forums, ex-Service members, photographers, photo journalists, avgeeks et al then nothing will happen.

Bruntingthorpe and Northolt do evening / night shoots, to name two, why not Coningsby?

From whom did the idea come for an event this year? Where did the first poster Gary get his information from?

Nightshoots OK but a few day light tours would be nice as well. Although with such good photo locations around the base it might not work ?

Can not work out where the idea has come from. Is there a link to offical RAF website or is this just somebodies wishfull thinking ?

Thanks Gary.

Is it someone in authority from Coningsby who tweeted? Or is it just .... a tweet.

@StevenNFFC

Do you, or perhaps anyone else, know why nothing came from the 2014 talk of a Night Shoot? Were any reasons given as to why the initial talk and interest came to nothing? It seems as if there were ample interest on FC judging by the almost 4,000 views and 57 replies in Jan / Feb 2014 going by the link given by StevenNFFC.

Thanks in advance.

I think that somebody at Coningsby got cold feet about the idea but instead of Jim (The MCO) explaining that it was off he decided (or was instructed) to say nothing.

There will be the rare opportunity to photograph Military Aircraft including Typhoon and Battle of Britain Memorial Flight airframes.Aircraft will be arranged in various unique static exhibitions to be photographed in the fading natural light.

Tickets cost £40 per person, as we have had to limit the number to 50 places - they will be sold on a first come first served basis. The price also includes a hot roll and beverage during the evening.

To apply for tickets please contact Sergeant Katie Mason by email katie.mason116@mod.uk or by telephone 01526 347443
Great if you a) live in Lincolnshire or b) don't have a job that means you need to be in work the next morning.

Sadly not for me.

£40 seems a bit steep as well!

I would be thankful that the opportunity has been given. At the end of the day, the good folks at Coningsby don't have to lay on the chance to get nice clean long exposure images of the aircraft. Northolt night shoot is now around £25 - £35 and the attendance is always high. Coningsby give joe public the chance to have a night shoot and people start moaning about the cost. If you don't like the thought of paying £40, then don't go. I'm sure those that do go will have a great time with unique opportunities.

Aye up guys i have been inundated with calls today imagine how i felt!!! Yes it's for a good cause.. I have to be honest though the phone rang off the hook. Still should be a good evening/night.. you will be able to get up close as in touch the jets etc and will be in small groups and no barriers in the way.
