Military versions of the Dove were known as Devon in RAF service and Sea Devon in RN service.

Can't help you Damien with your Devon. Can you help with mine ?
On a ' Devon' note, I flew from Laarbruch to Farnborough in the mid 70's on VP959. This was in RAE livery and had a plaque inside saying it was the oldest Devon in Government service. Any ideas what happened to this aircraft?

Sheriff,

I saw VP952 in late 1976 whilst in was in use with 207 Sqn at Northolt. I would have thought this was a candidate for the oldest Devon in Government service. it was delivered on 31 October 1947 whereas VP959 was delivered in 1948.

I can still remember the sound of Devons climbing out over Uxbridge where I worked at that time. A lovely aircraft.

A quick trip around ye olde internet reveals...

An unanswered question about its fate on the Key Forum said that it was last noted at Northolt in use as simulator

Damian, I think the words that you are looking for are "pity" (not "petty"), "negativity" (not "negative") and "Devon".

Damien. No probs. I love the Devon/Dove. It's such a classical DH craft and very elegant. I've flown 4 times in them.
Stay with it. Keep posts coming.

Apologies if I came across rude, I was only making light humour of the incorrect correction. And FYI, its either the wrong side or hit the wall with my bed, and trust me the latter hurts.

I also enjoy the factual nature of these posts, however it amazes me how somebody can excel at History & be pooh at English!
