Re: F-35 coming to RIAT / Farnborough
All F-35's have been grounded as of Yesterday. Its looking more unlikely they will make it over

Flying prevails whenever a man and his airplane are put to a test of maximum performance.
Re: F-35 coming to RIAT / Farnborough
Lots of conflicting news re the grounding. Many people saying not ALL types are grounded over on the Brize facebook page and just as many saying they are!
Confusion rules atm.

Flights had been expected to resume the day after Monday’s mishap, but the Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps decided to suspend all F-35 operations until it was determined that flights could resume safely.
The decision to ground all F-35 flights was made Wednesday afternoon as more information became available, according to F-35 spokeswoman Kyra P. Hawn in the military’s Joint Program Office.

On a positive note From Lockheed Martin ...
“We will resume flying once we know more about the cause of the F-35A fire that occurred at Eglin AFB earlier this week,” Ulsh said. “At present, there are no changes to our plans to debut the aircraft in the UK.”

ALTRV reposted for Monday, so at least a 24 hour slip

From aviation week -
http://aviationweek.com/defense/f-35b-s ... w-timelineAll U.S. Marine Corps F-35B operations remain dormant since a fire broke out in an F-35A preparing for takeoff this week, but this is not expected – at least for now – to affect the timing of the aircraft’s debut in the U.K. next month.
http://aviationweek.com/farnborough-201 ... antic-tripPlans for the deployment now involve up to four F-35Bs arriving in the first week of July ready to make their international debut, first at the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford on July 11 and then at the Farnborough International Airshow, which opens on July 14.

(Reuters) - The U.S. Marine Corps said it was resuming flights of Lockheed Martin Corp F-35 B-model jets on Friday, and was continuing with its plan to send several jets to Britain for their international debut next month.
"The Marine Corps will resume F-35B flight operations today. We are continuing with our plans to deploy to the UK next month," said Marine Corps spokesman Captain Richard Ulsh.

(Reuters) - The U.S. Marine Corps on Friday resumed flights of its Lockheed Martin Corp F-35B jets that were suspended following a fire on an Air Force F-35A and prepared for the jet's global debut in Britain next month after the discovery of engine pieces from the F-35A pointed to an issue with that specific model.
"We are continuing with our plans to deploy to the UK next month," said Marine Corps spokesman Captain Richard Ulsh. He said the Marine Corps resumed F-35B flights on Friday.
Four F-35B jets arrived early evening on Friday at an air base in southern Maryland, where they will be readied for their first trans-Atlantic flights, according to sources familiar with the program. The jets came from a Marine Corps base in Yuma, Arizona.
The deployment of the jets to Britain had been called into question after a fire broke out in the rear of an Air Force A-model F-35 on Monday as the pilot was preparing to take off for a training flight.
The Air Force on Thursday suspended flights of all F-35 A-model jets while it investigates the fire. Flights of some Navy jets were also suspended, but others continued to fly, according to Navy officials.

Re: F-35 coming to RIAT / Farnborough
I thought only 3 Jets were coming over 2 x USMC & 1 x RAF. Is it now 4x USMC + 1 x RAF

Re: F-35 coming to RIAT / Farnborough
It should be 4 F-35B's in total, 3 USMC and 1 RAF.

Not wishing to be being pedantic but; it's 3 USMC and 1 BRITISH F-35B. Just the 'Light Blue' trying to take over......as always..
