Exactly.people have to organise these events as mush as they do.they are never on your doorstep so like you said, hotels etc have to be booked and payed for..this,in my opinion shows sheer lack of respect to the fans that made them what they are.can you imagine what it would be like if riat was acting this way? You can't get an hotel within 60 miles, 7 months before the event. So you would have no chance this close

"Respecting, owing, disregarding Enthusiasts"...call it what you like? These are strong emotions over a situation not of their making. If the individual groups within the Bruntingthorpe airfield have no idea what's happening, imagine their concerns about their future tenure. 'Slightly' more significant than a worry over hotel rooms & a packed-lunch getting binned!
There's no excuse these days for not booking a 'free cancellation' room in a nearby hotel (pay when you stay) for all 5 Sundays in May? ;) Cancel the one by one or entirely once the situation becomes clear? Simples!....compared to the logistics of a live-running event, set-up costs & insurance....or maybe transporting a large jet elsewhere? :O
You mention RIAT. In the current health hype, that event could yet get cancelled! (although I tend to hope the COVID 19 will be history by then) Just suggesting you spare a thought for others (humanity even) in your blinkered views of entitlement? :thumb:

Totally agree with what your saying but an update on their website or social media is not a lot to ask.do we not deserve that? I get that they don't know themselves but just a quick note to let people know The current situation is not beyond reasonable.lets face it,social media, forums etc are jam packed with people that " know everything" ,that's why we rely so much on hearing it from the horses mouth so to speak.

Perhaps the parties involved are concerned with more important issues that affect business and jobs rather than impatient hobbyists. Yes it would be good to know what's likely to happen but try seeing it from the other side maybe.

Really ? Why is it unreasonable to ask for an update on an event 11 weeks away ? Someone knows if it's been cancelled or if negotiations are ongoing.
If negotiations are ongoing, just say so and when we might expect a decision.
Some of us have been asking for months (since September/October) for an update. All I’ve been told is “if it’s happening it’ll be announced on the website”. As someone who volunteers running the aircraft this isn’t exactly helpful, particularly as preparations to run in May needed to start last month.
Yes must be very frustrating for all you people working on aircraft there to be so kept in the dark over things.

Well,it's looking slightly more official..it seems the buccaneer owners have announced that they are relocating two bucks and a jet provost to another site at the end of the year.they have mentioned " there is currently no plans for a fast taxi run " which given the fact it takes a while to organise means it's pretty certain it's not gonna happen this may .

This inf has come from the bucc owners,it's not gossip .

It is. At the same time I think most are realistic in that aviation activities aren’t even a “secondary” activity on site and come well down the pecking order.

News just in from Bruntys webpages.

It is with regret that Bruntingthorpe Aviation has made the decision to cancel the Cold War Jets Fast Taxi Day that was provisionally planned for May 2020. This decision follows the latest guidance issued by HM UK Government in response to the outbreak of Covid-19. We thank all of our volunteers, supporters and enthusiasts for their continued support during these unprecedented times.

We remain hopeful that the August 2020 Cold War Jets Fast Taxi Day will go ahead and we will continue to keep our website (www.bruntingthorpe.com/aviation/discove ... -taxi-days ) up to date in regards to this. If you have any queries please feel free to contact a member of our team. As part of our duty of care towards our own staff, many will be working from home so please be patient with any queries you may have.
